‘My Heart Will Go On’ hitmaker Celine Dion is set to join Usher & Jennifer Hudson as headliners of a new CBS special designed to honor late pop icon Whitney Houston.
As reported here, the trio are the first set of performers confirmed to take the stage at the Nokia Theatre-hosted event (though it is widely speculated R. Kelly will perform as well).
Due for taping October 11th, the event will undoubtedly see more of many singers Houston has influenced step up to take the stage.

I am happy Celine is honoring her fellow divas, friend, and counterpart. I think Mariah should also pay tribute.

I can’t wait to watch this tribute – Celine Dion will just bring it I know it! I hope Jennfifer sings a different song from the Grammy’s. I’m still undecided about Usher’s role in this, I want him to sing well for Whitney’s tribute.

I actually WOULD NOT like to see Usher or Jennifer Hudson tribute Witney Houston. I would much perfer Brandy, Monica and the “old heads” like R Kelz, CD, MC, Isley Brothers, ppl like that tribute her.

Yessss. Celine is my girl. I grew up listening to this woman because of my mom. A lot of her songs bring back so much memories when I listen to them. She is a walking legend that has stood the test of time.
bout frigging time this site got on with a little posting about the Dion – great to hear this happening and i just hope to god that she does at least two songs as her vocals on Whitneys songs will be fantastic. this event is sure to be a great tribute – i cant wait.

Just what I was saying yesterday. We need true greats and real megastars to do this tribute this time. We have had all the tributes from the black comunity and all those gospel singers already (and they were great, being the BET one the best by far)
But Whitney was so much more than that. This is the time to celebrate the worldwide MEGASTAR and icon. And it would be nice to have the biggest to do the tribute. Can you imagine if Mariah is there too… or Madonna? haha that would be so weird and amazing
Whitney herself said on an interview in France in 2009 that she is not just the Queen of R&B (they refered to her as that in the tv program and Whitney was not having it lol), that she transcended that and did a lot of things (pop, gospel, R&B, etc)

I just hope Aretha Franklin DOES NOT participate – still salty about her actions & comments after Whitney passed.
